The Yamaha Junior Music Course (JMC) (beginners ages 4—6½) provides a comprehensive musical foundation in a fun, nurturing, and social environment. Through singing and playing the keyboard, students learn to hear, feel, and sensitively express the elements of music. In JMC, a parent attends class to help support and encourage their child. 

 

Classes meet once a week for 50 minutes. Semesters begin in August and January, and follow the local school district calendar. Tuition is $25/class, plus the cost of materials. There are no registration fees or contracts. Discounts are available for referrals, siblings, and multiple classes.

Young Musicians Course

The Yamaha Young Musicians Course (YMC) (beginners ages 6½—8) is a comprehensive musical approach designed for older beginners. In YMC, students attend class without parents and work with their friends in an energetic and encouraging classroom environment. Through singing, reading, and playing the keyboard, students establish a strong musical foundation.

Songbird Singers

music and voice course for ages 8—12 | register today!

Songbird Singers (ages 8—12) enjoy learning together in small groups how to sing with ease in a way appropriate for their age and voice. They learn to harmonize and sing expressively through various repertoires, both as soloists and ensemble members.

 

Recent repertoire includes:​

  • Lin Manuel Miranda's "We Don't Talk About Bruno" from Encanto

  • Toto's "Africa"

  • Dolly Parton's "Wildflowers"

Pre-teen Keyboard Course

The Pre-Teen Keyboard Course (ages 9—12) provides a strong foundation of music theory while learning to play the keyboard. Students and instructor work together to choose projects that are fun and motivating as they learn to read, play, and compose music.​

Private Lessons

For beginners under the age of 12, we recommend starting with one of our comprehensive group courses. These are the most effective and enjoyable ways to explore music and establish the strong foundation needed to advance in private lessons. For older beginners or students with significant previous experience, we offer weekly private lessons.

 

Studying piano, voice, or guitar at Wheaton Yamaha Music School is above all, fun! Our teachers cater their lessons to students' interests and goals. Studying with highly skilled musicians and educators, your student will find a safe and encouraging space to experience the joy of making music and being expressive. 

Lessons are 30, 45, or 60 minutes, weekly. New semesters begins every January and August and follow the local school district calendar. Lessons are $1/minute, plus the cost of materials. There are no registration fees or contracts. Discounts are available for referrals, siblings, and multiple classes.
